New Years Geocaching

While we were at my in-laws, we were trying to come up with fun things to do with the kids.  Geocaching to the rescue.  We took turns hiding a cache around the neighborhood, and finding it.  It was a lot of fun.  Here is a brief look at our geocaching experiment.  enjoy!

TuTu girls

We are spending some time before new year's with my in-laws, and cousins.  My mother in-law bought all the girls tutu pajamas.  This is what they look like.  Happy New Year everyone.

Minute to win it Challenge

Brandy bet me I could not blow a card and have it rest on the edge of the coffee table.  Here is video proof that I can do that.  Watch it and weep.

Christmas Scooters

We got the girls scooters for Christmas and here they are having fun with them...

Of course my favorite parts are when they run into things.  I know, I know, typical boy.

Merry Christmas

blocks

Brandy has been busy making Christmas gifts for almost everyone we know.  She came to me and said, "what are you making for everyone?"  Gulp, "I don't know."  She of course had suggestions; one of which was blocks.  I got busy making building blocks.  Amelia and Emery were having fun building with them.  It makes me feel a little better about Christmas knowing I actually made a gift for the girls.

Merry belated Christmas,
Mac

Everyman 2

Continuing talks about Everyman with the playwright.  We are leaning towards a Comedia style, with an urban theatre twist.  Meaning, we want to use nontraditional performance spaces.  I continue to be very excited about the project and the possibilities.  more to come...

Everyman

I am directing a reading of a modern adaptation of Everyman by Tasia Munoz.  It promises to be fun and a little different.  Very definitely "another mac lower production."  It is scheduled to be performed January 24th at Nouveau 47.  Come one, come all.  For the theatre enthusiast there will be lots of Grotowski to go around.  There will be more details to come.

the thing

As I was working on stage at the Dallas Children's Theatre I told Ken, the intern, "you see ken the thing about that is, and everything has a thing..."  Everything has a thing.  And the thing I realized today is that this life is a journey, not a destination, so I should strive for progress not perfection.  Perfection will come later.

Ken and I continued working on the, and I quote, "flippy things."  And he laid down some wisdom about people who are jerks.  I know you are thinking "wisdom from an intern."  But on rare occasions, when the stars align just right, the intern will wax poetic.  Ken said, "they really shouldn't think.  Thinking stops action, and we need action."  Wax on, wax off.

Pythagorean theorem

I had the chance to talk to some "tween," and teen students today after the performance of Junie B. Jones.  I was instructed to talk about how we use math and science in the theatre.  So, naturally I thought of the pythagorean theorem.  For those of you who don't remember what that is it is a2 + b2 = c2.  Now, I'm sure you remember.  I showed them how we used that to figure out how to cut the boards for a triangular platform.  They loved it.

We also talked about Circumference, and how to figure that.  Which is 2 pi R, once again, now you remember.  I showed them a circular platform and talked about how we used that equation to figure out how much facing to rip.  They loved it, as they should.

Went to Cooper Elementary to watch their Christmas bike parade today.  Fun!

And here is a little holiday cheer from me and the girls...

The Beginning

I just finished retyping my book.  You see I typed it several years ago, but lost the disk.  So, I had no digital copy of it.  Now, seven years later I have a digital copy of it again, and can now begin the editing process.

I am also working on finishing my Christmas play.  This has been a seven year process as well.  The play should be finished in the next few days.  If anyone knows how to get a play published let me know.

Junie B. Jones: Jingle Bells, Batman Smells is open at the Dallas Children's Theater.  Come one, come all. It is a good time for the whole family.
